Dating
I was reading through notes from the marriage prep class I took and came across something every unmarried person should apply to their way of thinking.
"a date is just asking someone to share an activity w/ you."

Sleepless Nights
The past week I haven't been able to sleep well. Rather than watch tv like I usually do I decided I would make good use of my time and update my blog...
I graduated, woohoo!
I went to Peru again. Boy do I love Peruvian food.
I tried to go to Costa Rica but they kicked me out for not having the yellow fever vaccination. How did they know I like Asian girls anyways? =)
I stayed in the bay area for about a week.
I hiked Squaw Peak and to a waterfall in Sandy. Bell Canyon I believe was the spot.
Went to Las Vegas to see T.G.U.K.s
I fell in love...w/ geocaching thanks to Sam
Last night I was talking w/ a good friend about childhood memories and it made me laugh and at the same time realize how dumb we were. I still really enjoy my job and like to think I am making a difference, but it sure is stressing me out. Rather than complain I decided that I just need to make changes so I can get back to the not so stressful work days. I am not sure what those changes are as of yet, but I am sure I will figure it out.
In my boredom I have also looked through notebooks and whatnot. I found a quote book that my sister gave me and a notebook from the mission w/ random quotes mixed w/ spiritual and Spanish stuff. Here are some examples...
"Start acting, then you'll feel" -MTC teacher-
"Don't concentrate on how hard life is, focus on the good things in life"
"Hay que [coquetear] mucho."
"Tengo hambre" not to be confused w/ "tengo hombre"
Here is a good one: "Mi comida esta en el zapato"

Peru Take 1
The trip started off rocky. The pilot from S.F. to L.A. didn't show up for a few hours so we missed the plane to Lima. We stayed in the Hilton by LAX and got a "meal voucher" that we could only use at the airport or at the over priced hotel restaurant. We ended up taking the bus down to the beach and eating tasty sea food.
On the way back there was a group of young blacks. I am not being racist, just a fact. They were talking about dating. The question was asked what do you get your boo a 6 month anniversary gift? The best response to this question was, "Shoot, a combo meal at McDonalds" "Before that it's only stuff off the dollar menu.
The conversation lead into the question how long does it take for you to boo boo (1. the act or action of taking a shit or the shit itself. see also: dookie, poo poo (exact variation), shizat, #2, or just plain shit.) in front of your boo? My favorite response was, "Never! My parents have been married 30 years and they never boo booed in front of eacother!"
The next day we set off to Peru. I sat next to a pretty chill girl going back to get married. We talked about relationships and whatnot and watched He's Just Not That Into You together and talked about it after. I also watched Gran Torino. The plane ride was one of the most enjoyable I've had.
We landed in Lima and met my friend's mom and cousin and head to a hostel.

The hostel was nice enough. I got to sleep in the bed w/ my friend's fiance. I asked him if he liked to cuddle. His response was, "not with you." I am not sure he appreciated my sense of humor. Oh well, it made me laugh. The toilet didn't have a seat on it. It's times like these I am glad I can pee standing up.

First Longboarding Wreck
I longboarded and wrecked pretty hard. A guy asked if I was okay w/ a look of shock on his face. I said yes, bent my glasses back to somewhat normal, he handed me my board, and I road off. It was kinda funny, but mostly painful.
Winter Time Fun
I should have posted about winter before posting about the beginning of what should be warm weather, but I tend to do things backwards. I made a goal to go snowboarding at least once a week. Amazingly I was able to accomplish this goal with the help of a friend. Although I don't mind going alone, it was definitely nice to have company. Some weeks I went twice and one I went three times. Surgery kinda messed up the end of the season but having 90% paid for was more important than snowboarding. I did end up going one more time after the surgery, three weeks after to be exact. I really shouldn't have but it snowed the day before so I gave into temptation. It was worth it.

Hiking Enjoyment
This past weekend Eric and I went on a little road trip to enjoy the beauty of Utah. We hit up Bryce Canyon and some other places in Southern Utah. It was so nice to get away to nature and just get away. We weren't gone that long but we did quite a bit.
As we were going over a pass to get there it started snowing like crazy. We were in a civic with road tires and lets just say it didn't handle the best in the snow. We ended up turning around and going another way that wasn't much better. We made it and it was freezing. We set up the tent and hopped into our sleeping bags. The morning was amazing and the afternoon was just as wonderful.

Like/Dislike About Me
In one of my classes my teacher told us to make a list of things we like about ourselves and one of stuff we dislike. This is what I came up with:
Like
I am pretty patient
I have common sense
I can grow a sweet beard
I am good at saving $
I am friendly...mostly
Dislike
I swear when I fall
I suffer from road rage
I am slow to open up to people
I am messy
I procrastinate

Weekend
I had surgery last Wednesday on my shoulder. Since then I have been more or less out of it. I've been relaxing and whatnot. I've been taken care of pretty well. My dad's wife, Elizabeth took me to get my hair washed at Super Cuts and kept me well fed. My dad brought me Jamba Juice. My boss took me to get ice cream and put up w/ me being a little high =). My brother brought me Taco Bell. My friend, Tiffany took me to get gelato. So tasty, and once again she put up w/ me being a bit high. I think we walked by the place like 3 times before finding it. haha.
Saturday I got a call from a friend asking if I wanted to do security at Velour. Sayde Price, The Devil Whale, and RuRu was playing and that meant getting in for free. I probably should have passed up on this opportunity but I just couldn't. I made sure people didn't go in the back and that the "fire lane" was clear. It was such a great show. Overall this weekend was amazing, despite the fact that I was in pain.

I've decided it's time to see what I spend all my money on so I am going to make a budget with the help of my sister.

Goals: Failure or Success?
1. Not cut my hair: I still haven't cut it.
2. Go on a date at least once every two weeks:
So far so good. Some weeks more than one.
3. Stay away from whiskeymilita.com and steepandcheap.com
I've checked it a few times, but have not purchased anything and don't plan on
it unless I actually need it.
4. Snowboard at least once a week: Some weeks more than once =)
5. Cook once a week/start recipe book: So far so not good. Total failure. I haven't cooked once unless you count making a pb & j. I did cook Spaghetti a few weeks back.
6. Go to Iceland: Still planning on it. I hope my good friend can go with.
7. Go to Alaska: A hot topic of conversation with a few friends.
8. Go to California: I am going in June or July.
9. Go to Georgia: I am going this summer.
10. Update blog at least once a month: Updated as of...now.
11. Dog Bark Park Inn: I made a deal with a friend and IF we accomplish our goal, we ARE going.
And now added to the list...
12. Go to Peru: Going in June =)
13. Give people the benefit of the doubt: I am doing SO much better.

New York
I made it to New York for the first time in my life over New Years. Part of me wants to move there. It was an amazing trip filled with great friends, tasty food, and jumping pictures. New York is totally different than Utah, some good differences and some not so good.
After landing I took a bus towards the subway, because this is the cheapest form of transportation. Once the bus was filled to capacity it left the airport. When I got on there was only standing room, therefore I was on my feet the first little bit. Even though the bus was full, it stopped to let more people on at each bus stop. I got a seat after a while. My seat was next to an older gentleman. My phone rang, well vibrated and since my leg was basically on the guys leg I apologized for the inconvenience. His reply was, "do you have a gun?" I assured him I left my "heat" at home. A while later and after a subway ride I met up with a friend.
Some of the highlights of the trip are as follows. New Years Eve was spent in Central Park and ended at Richard and Ben's place. At C.P. we watched an amazing firework show. It reminded me of when friends and I watched the stadium of fire on top of the Riviera because we were so close I could feel the explosion of the fireworks in my chest. Such a good feeling.
One night, Xaque, Linduh and I got oh-so yummy pizza and walked the Brooklyn Bridge. We waited for an hour or so to be seated, and the waiting was done outside where it was not warm at all. So worth it though. The old guy that was running the place was very efficient and cracked me up. An example of his funniness is when a group of six ordered three desserts. He told them they had to order six since that's how many people there were in their party. He said this totally straight faced and serious. After a pause of 15 seconds or so he said he would bring three.
I got to go see the Museum of Modern Art...for FREE (thanks Richard). I now want to blow up a picture I took huge to put on my wall, which I plan on doing soon. I also went to Coney Island and ate at Nathans. That was one tasty treat. After eating we headed to the pier and just in time cause the sun was setting. Baywatch was recreated so we could make it in time to photograph the prettiness.
I also bought four pairs of shoes and a pair of boots for 75 bucks and an 8 gig compact flash for a few bucks after rebate. Thanks Xaque for finding such good deals.
